How do you deal with a spouse that has a learning disability?

December 7th, 2009

——- - asked:

First of all I love my wife and she will be my forever queen; however there are times when her learning disability can become frustrating. Example, my wife will ask me questions with a “very broad description” however is unable to pin point an exact question; it is very hard to answer. I always try to figure out her exact question and at times she doesn’t even know her own question. Well, don’t want to confuse you.

How do you deal with a spouse or a partner with a learning disability?

How does someone apply for disability pay and medical care from the government?

November 29th, 2009

pisces asked:

I’m wondering how you go about getting disability pay and free medical care from the government like for regular people with diagnosed mental disorders who are basically unable to perform duties and keep a job and for veterans of wars? I’ve read that’s it’s a complicated process with lots of forms and you have to send back yet another different set of forms to appeal your rejection, which is all but granted the first time you apply. Anyone have experience with this?

How can one address months or years of unemployment due to a disability without scaring away employers?

November 24th, 2009

Abijah Eternally asked:

My work history is patchy due to gaps caused by disability. Though it is illegal to discriminate based upon disability, employers know and see by my employment history that I cannot be as sure of a bet as a non-disabled person, hence will not give me a second look. Does anyone have suggestions how to get around this, especially with online applications? (I live in a rather small, less progressive city in PA)

How much do you get from your monthly social security disability payments?

November 21st, 2009

Jak K asked:

How much does your monthly Social Security Disability pay?
I know it depends on how long you worked, but How much is it in dollars? Like what it a person worked for 5 or 10 years before they started getting disability? About how much would they get a month? And I assume you also get food stamps in addition to the disability payments? Is that true? Or do they expect the person to use their disability payments for food?

How to or not to disclose a disability to a potential employer?

November 17th, 2009
disability
army.veteran asked:

My situation is that I was medically discharged from the US Army in 2005. I have several disabilities and have an overall disability rating from the Veterans Administration. I have gone to school to retrain on a rehabilitation plan. I am about to graduate and currently looking for a new full time job. I had a great job offer from a company, and then I told them I have disabilities and they pulled the offer back. The field I am going into is Electronics and Computers. I have talked to many career advisors and they state that I should not tell the company I have them. I feel that I should. On my military discharged it also states that I was medically discharged and have a disability rating as well. I also run into problems when people ask me why I got out of the Army. I state I was medically discharged. I have been told to state that my doctor says that I can work. Any advice on this will be helpful to me. I am concerned about this situation.

How does a person on disability and force retirement with bad credit get a loan ?

gw_extdman1 asked:

I never seem to get ahead with the bills that I have and I only get a limited income and have been on disability and forced retirement since 1987 and up until 2003 was paying on bills that my brother charged in my name and that is when the creditors told me not to pay anything more. During that time, I had to close several accounts that I had in my name and they went to the credit bureaus and now I have bad credit as far as I am concern and need to get a loan to pay off those bills and try to get some brand new clothes and some other items that I need. Anyone with information pleaselet me know some how, by the grace of God I need the help soon. Or I will crazy!
I won’t go to payday loans because they are way too expensive and the bills I have is not all just every day bills, they are bills that I keep getting phone calls about from the creditors. Wife can’t help out at all her money that she gets on her disability goes for her medicine and all the house cleaning and the personal hygine we have to have.

Can you file for disability due to harassing phone calls at work?

October 22nd, 2009
disability
sunlight4me asked:

My co-worker has been getting hang-ups galore. The person rarely speaks and when they do it isn’t threatening. She is threatening to file for disability, which I find ridiculous, since we all think it is her ex-boyfriend calling. I say she should go to the police, but she insists she is going to get a Dr note and chalk it up to work related stress. Any suggestions?
