An eating disorder will usually not only affect the life of victims, but also those of people close to them. As such, it is important to diagnose and treat eating disorders not only for the victim’s benefit but also for the benefit of his or her friends, loved ones, and society in general. Those who suffer from an eating disorder often are unable to work at their best for very long and their treatment can put a strain on society the likes of which we might not fully appreciate as of yet.
