Drugs And Snoring

December 12th, 2007 | by admin |

Quite surprisingly, drugs will sometimes cause people to snore. Alcohol, for instance, will loosen the muscles in and around a person’s air passages when taken in considerable amounts. This relaxing of the tissues will cause them to flap around and vibrate when air is passed through them. That is why some people who aren’t chronic snorers will snore, sometimes pretty loudly when falling asleep after some drinks. Other kinds of sedatives, including some prescription medicines will produce the same effect. In these cases the only way to stop the snoring until the effects wear off would be through propping the head up properly or with some mechanical device.
