Acne Blemish Removal and Acne Rosacea Treatments Are Not Necessarily the Same

July 13th, 2008 | by admin |

Regular acne blemish removal treatments may not work for someone who has rosacea as well as acne.  They are not the same thing.  Acne has to do with your pores and rosacea has to do with your blood vessels.  Rosacea and acne usually present together, though.  While rosacea itself is not treatable at this time, acne rosacea treatments are available.

Normal medicated acne topical treatments may be too strong for rosacea skin.  Rosacea will make the skin more sensitive and many topical acne medications can irritate or burn the skin and make the rosacea seem worse by adding redness to the skin.  Most doctors prescribe oral acne treatments for patients who have rosacea so that they are not rubbing anything damaging onto their sensitive skin.
