Dry Age Related Macular Degeneration Most Likely Causes Loss Of Central Vision

September 27th, 2008 | by admin |

Dry AMD has three separate stages of progression. The first stage is called Early AMD, and the second stage is called Intermediate AMD. The second stage of Dry Age Related Macular Degeneration, or Dry AMD is more serious than the first stage. In this second stage, instead of having a few small or medium drusen, the patient will have many medium sized drusen, or one or more large drusen. Unfortunately, at this stage, the patient will most likely have experienced some loss of their central vision. Some patients may experience vision loss in the form of a blurred spot in the vision they use for driving, recognizing faces and reading.
