IBD - Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s

July 3rd, 2008 | by admin |

Ulcerative colitis is a physical condition, wherein the colon also commonly known as the large intestine, experiences chronic inflammation. Ulcers as well as inflammation of the inner lining of the large intestine are a common phenomenon and afflict a large percentage of the American population. Ulcerative colitis is also usually linked to another inflammatory condition of the intestines, known as Crohn’s disease. When they occur together, they are also referred to as IBD or inflammatory bowel disease. Both these conditions are chronic in nature and can last for several years. They are equally seen in both the genders and can begin at any age.
