Is Colon Cancer Hereditary?

There has been a great deal of research and debate as to wether colon cancer (also referred to as bowel or colorectal cancer) can be passed down to the next generation. In most cases there appears to be only a small link, but in some cultures there does seem to be a more direct link with hereditary colon cancer. For example, gene mutation that can be responsible for what is known as Familial Colon Cancer. Those with an east European Jewish decent are one culture that do show this link.
