Migraines Can Be Debilitating

November 8th, 2008 | by admin |

Migraines cause mild to severe throbbing pain and can occur on one or both sides of the head. Visual disturbances (called “aura”) may signal the onset of a migraine; the person may also have stomach upset, nausea or vomiting. Migraines are vascular (muscular) in origin, and may be preceded by visual disturbances, loss of peripheral vision, and fatigue. Over-the-counter pain medications can relieve most headaches but since migraines are much more painful, usually a stronger medication is needed. Migraine can occur any time of the day, though it often starts in the morning. The pain can last a few hours or up to one or two days.
