Kill Two New Year’s Resolutions With One Stone
January 7th, 2008 | by admin |It's that time of the year again - everyone has made their New Year's Resolutions. The three most popular ones are always to lose weight, stop smoking, and get finances in order. Well, I've never smoked, so I can't help you with that one, but if you've decided to work on both your physical and your fiscal fitness this year, you may be surprised how the two can complement each other. An exercise programdoesn't have to break the bank. While gyms are fine if you can afford them, if you're trying to save money (or just don't care for commercial gyms), it's entirely possible to work out at home. Of course, you could always whip up a complete state-of-the-art home gym, assuming you have the space, but that won't do much for the ol'wallet. However, you can work out at home with a minimum of gym equipment. Bodyweight exercises like chin-ups, dips, pushups, lunges, bodyweight squats, and conditioning exercises like bear crawls, mountain climbers, burpees and more work great and cost nothing. For a cardio workout, try jumping rope, jumping jacks, sprinting in place, or a combination of the three.
As far as nutrition, bring a healthy lunch and snacks from home instead of springing for junk food. If you don't have time to prepare the food in the morning, do it the night before (or just get up a half hour earlier). And if you're in the habit of picking up a Creamy Mocha Coconut Vanilla Frappacino Whatever or two every day, try taking your own coffee with minimal or no sugar and fat, or just having a cup or two in the morning before you leave. You might be surprised at the massive amount of fat and sugar in many of these commercially available coffee drinks, and the amount of money you'll have in your bank account at the end of the year if you implement these suggestions will also be a surprise - but a good one!
