Dieticians are not restricted to hospitals anymore so there is no real way of knowing how genuine private diet counselors are. Most of the established counselors are associated with professional organizations such as the American Dietetic Association or the American Society for Clinical Nutrition. It is extremely important to check a dieticians credentials and affiliations before you consult them.
