In women, bilateral tubal ligation involves cutting the fallopian tubes, which connect the ovaries to the uterus. In males, the vas deferens, which connect the testicles to the penis, are cut instead. Depending on other health concerns, it may make sense for intimate partners to discuss which one will undergo sterilization procedures.
